I’ve been in Santa Maria this past weekend, so obviously needed something to do. Played around with my travel blog site (no, I haven’t started the trip, yet) and changed the title from WooTravels to EuroWoo. Check ‘er out: http://jennykwoo.lifeyo.com.
I dunno about titles, but POINT is that I am FINALLY going to Europe!!! Made this little trip card above for the travel blog, too. Hoping I will have the resources and wi-fi to be able to post videos and photos while abroad. Maybe I’ll interview someone, do some sketches, who knows?
Looking forward to seeing bridges and shopping at Harrod’s in London, eating pastries at Laduree and Dallayou in Paris, and seeing Gaudi architecture and walking in La Boqueria in Barcelona!
In light of my Euro trip, I’m getting antsy, so here I am blogging about my new suitcase and lost passport. Please, September 20th, come faster, else I start blogging about what shoes I will be wearing the day I leave!
David Villa, after scoring the first and winning goal of the Spain vs. Portugal World Cup game
Villa does it again!!! Check out the video highlight of the game on FIFA’s site.
Gerad Pique leaps on top of the group hug surrounding Villa, celebrating just after Villa scored the only goal of the game.
I didn't see Ronaldo bawl in this game, at least not on TV, but I saw that he came very close. Instead, Eduardo (Portugal's keeper) was left devastated in tears on the field.
Spain's keeper, Iker Casillas, consoles Portugal's Eduardo with a hug. Awww.
US won their match against Algeria this morning. I checked out the game at the Loteria Grill in Hollywood on their projector screen.
Neither country scored in the entire 90 minutes. The US team slipped a few times when they had some good setups for a goal, got a good amount of free kicks, and other times Algeria’s skilled keeper was on top of his game. But just when it looked like the game would end in a draw and neither country would advance to the next round, after 4 minutes were added to the game, Donovan rushed for the ball and passed it to Altidore who collided with the goalie which sent the ball back towards Donovan’s way, who kicked it into the net. It was a beautiful moment.
Great job, Donovan and Buddle!
I’m happy I was actually up and went out to watch the game. I can’t believe they won, just a couple minutes away from the end. Had they not won and the game ended in a draw, the US would have gone back home, ending the World Cup right there, and Slovenia and England would advance. Now the US and England, both with 5 points, get to advance to the next round.
I hoped from the beginning of the game that if anyone were to score, Donovan should be the one and he lived up to that. I didn’t know that this is the first time the US won the group since 1930! Exciting!
Congratulations and good luck to the US for the rest of their games!
I had no idea that down Santa Monica Blvd., walking distance from me, is a Lomography Gallery store! There are only two in the US: one in New York and apparently one right here in LA. They not only sell cameras and film, but develop as well! It’s not easy trying to find a place that develops film. Now I gotta find those rolls of film I shot a year ago….
They have this new camera called the Spinner 360. You pull this ring and it makes the camera spin in full circle as it takes a picture.
And this is what you come up with!
We walked into the store just after they had done a free workshop where people took loaner cameras of different kinds from Lomography and walked about Santa Monica Blvd. to take pictures of the LA Gay Pride Parade. Fun! They have many free and cheap workshops coming up, including a ride to Venice Beach!
So if you’re in the area, drop by the Lomography Gallery Store of LA! They have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff that encourages you to play with the cameras and check out the different cool stuff and workshops they have. There’s also an upstairs lounge area, where I guess is good for workshop meetups or just lounging about and showing off your photos.
My birthday was last Wednesday, June 9. I worked all day (thanks for all the birthday wishes sent over walkie on set) and got off early enough for a couple friends to take me out to dinner. They took me to Taste on Melrose in West Hollywood and it was delicious! I had a sugar snap pea pesto linguine with chickpeas, mint, and sweet corn. And to top it off, a vanilla bean creme brulee.
Our server had the most articulate, professional, and well-rehearsed speech I’ve ever heard … in a good way. I don’t remember what the specials were, but it was just fun watching and listening to her speak as if she was telling beauty pageant judges what her one wish would be.
I sadly don’t have any pictures of the food I had, but I’ll definitely be back to try their risotto, mac and cheese, pizzettas, and much more.
It was also the birthday of Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter, Zenani (rest in peace), Johnny Depp, Donald Duck (yes, really), Peter the Great, and Grace Bonney of DesignSponge.com! I also heard a shoutout to Grace today on the Martha Stewart show when they were showing off photos and fun wedding ideas used in Grace’s wedding. Check out Grace’s birthday wishlist below!
First game, 7am here in California. Will I make it to some pub that will air it live or sleep in? I would normally root for Mexico in this first game, but also wish the best for South Africa in their first home World Cup.
Team España, in their last major tournament victory: 2008 Euro Cup
I’m rooting for Spain in this entire World Cup. TEAM ESPAÑA NEEDS A WORLD CUP WIN!
I can’t help myself to be picking flowers when walking down a sidewalk. It’s spring time, so many colorful and beautiful things in bloom, it makes me smile to pick a flower along the way, and then another, and end up with a little bouquet for home or to put on a neighbor’s porch steps.
